Abbott Of England It all began with some pastry cutters and two dollars cash. Ben Abbott and his wife Doris found themselves at the 1949 Canadian National Exhibition demonstrating the kitchen gadgets to the crowd, who were mesmerized by Ben's true enthusiasm for his product. The 3,000 cutters had cleared customs just the night before and were all sold within one day. From simple beginnings in the south-west part of downtown Toronto, their growth as a leader in the industry has been heralded by a variety of moves over the past 60 years. Today, Abbott Of England's gorgeous head office features a stunning, well-kept showroom and a 130,000 square foot warehouse. Over the years, they have participated in hundreds of Gift Shows across North America. From humble beginnings selling a single item in a 24 square foot booth, their space has grown more than 230 times larger today! With their continuous efforts to improve their customer experience, Abbott Of England was recognized in August 2008 when they received the prestigious Allen J. Browne award for Best Overall Exhibitor at the Toronto C.G.T.A. Show. Within the next 5 years, Abbott plans continued growth throughout North America and will continue to offer retailers inspiring products from across the globe. Abbott Of England headquarters is located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Ashanti Coffee grows, roasts and distributes their own coffee. This makes them unique in that they are the only truly grower direct coffee in Canada. From their farm in Zimbabwe, to their roastery in Canada, they offer a genuine 'Farm to Cup' coffee. Amy & David Wilding-Davies, owners and founders, believe that providing good employment and a good work place benefits everyone. What Africa needs is economic development, not more aid. Aid often allows governments to escape their responsibilities, skew local economics and does not allow people to achieve their full sense of self-worth and achievement. Good employment allows people to provide for their families, reach their full potential and improves self-esteem. They consistently strive to achieve this in both Africa where the coffee is grown and in Canada, where it is roasted, distributed and promoted. They believe that communities are not just places where we live and do business but an integral part of what makes us who we are. Ashanti Coffee also has a cafe in Thornbury, Ontario where they serve home baked treats next to the roastery. Ashanti Coffee headquarters and cafe is located in Thornbury, Ontario, Canada.

Avanti Press It all began in 1980, when young Rick Ruffner arrived at his first National Stationery Show in New York with a handful of samples. While everyone told him his concept would never work, his first four orders were placed that day and it set the stage for a quickly growing phenomenon. Rick's brand evolved rapidly into a humorous style of colorful, clever story-telling that became the Avanti brand. By 1983, Rick had assembled a seven person team and moved the operation into a small office in downtown Detroit. As the company grew, independent card shops were quick to recognize Avanti as a strong alternative to traditional cards. Specialty retailers were especially drawn to the line by its ability to attract educated consumers and impulse shoppers alike. Avanti was also popular internationally, with distributors from the UK to Australia and Japan championing the cards. Over the years, they have forged alliances with some of the best sales groups in the country, many of whom have continuously sold Avanti for 20 years or more. In 1988, Avanti won its first LOUIE award from the Greeting Card Association. Since then, Avanti has earned over 40 more LOUIEs. Additionally, they've earned numerous print and production awards for their consistent product quality. In the end, Avanti is really just a small group of crazy card nuts who have managed to make a big splash doing what they do best: making people smile. From their very beginning in 1980, Avanti greeting cards have been printed in the USA and have been green for years, printing on paper with recycled content, which they've been doing for the past 15 years.

babygags The fun, funny, fabulous concept known as Silly Souls was hatched in 2000 and launched in 2002, originally branded as Babygags. The line was the original irreverent funny line of apparel and accessories for the coolest babies. The company evolved to a more whimsical silly style and rebranded as Silly Souls when they launched the super baby shoe line. Across the product range the brand's goal remains to inspire laughter and the sunny funny side of parenthood and the silly personalities that each baby comes with. The Silly Souls product line continues to grow and now includes products for kids 0-6 years old including; bodysuits, t-shirts, hats, bibs, bottles, dish sets, birth announcements, the silliest socks, the coolest baby shoes, and the best big brother and sister ‘sibling rivalry’ gifts. Silly Souls was founded by Shelley Foster. Shelley, originally from Alberta Canada completed her international MBA. She first went to Latin America to work in new business development, and shortly after she was offered a position in the U.S. with Nike Inc. in their new business/equipment division. Here she was able to refine her new business strategy skills and learn the product creation and branding game, and then cut her teeth at taking many great concepts to market including launching the Nike Training Gear and Nike Fitness Gear lines. Matching her business skills with her lifestyle she was then recruited to work in the surf industry where she managed Reef Brazil’s women’s division and launched their kids footwear line. After learning how to make products from A-Z she was looking to start her own business, and the baby biz offered a fun kick start to her entrepreneurial path. So she could maintain a day job to fund the project for the first four years after the baby biz hatched, Shelley quickly rounded out her initial crew with a few good people including sales whiz mom Colleen Foster to help her get the company off the ground. Over 8 years later the line is supported by a network of sales representatives in U.S. and Canada and international distribution partners in Europe and Asia, which service over 1000 boutique customers, and key online retail partners. Babygags's product by Silly Souls has been featured in some of the following magazines: Cosmopolitan, Time Out NY Kids, Urban Baby and Parents Baby. Babygags is a San Francisco based company. After incorporating in 2001, they added to the Wild & Wonderful collection with Wild & Wonderful Fish and Wild & Wonderful Wild Rice in April of 2002. She married Gary, an Anglican priest-pilot, who whisked her off to remote communities in Northern Ontario and Manitoba. She has been cooking with Helen, part-time since 1980 and even though she now resides in Calgary, Alberta, you will find her at the Fishing Lodge every June and at the Hunting Lodge each September. It has always been a team effort - each encouraging the other to experiment with new recipes in order to present their guests with the finest cuisine. Cake Beauty is a manufacturer of delicious, indulgent bath & body products that are high quality and made with natural ingredients. From her childhood days, Heather Reier the creator of Cake Beauty, was always interested in beauty products. In 2003 her passion for indulgence and products had not wavered. After using various products on the market, while she loved many of them, she could not help but feel as though something was missing. She realized that the beauty world needed a line of cremes, suds and scrubs with decadent, nourishing ingredients accompanied by sophisticated packaging and a sassy, fun concept. And from there the philosophy of Cake was born. Working initially in the kitchen, Heather spent nights and weekends not resting until she had finally created the ultimate cremes, suds and scrubs. No detail was overlooked. She studied the properties of each ingredient, insisting on using only those that would benefit both physical and emotional needs while yielding the most superior textures. Ingredients such as mango and shea butters, coconut and jojoba oils, turbinado sugar, marshmallow, pure essential oils and whole milk were used. If this wasn't enough, Heather characterized each product with clever and distinctive namesakes. These namesakes would reflect the scent, texture and the overall experience that women everywhere would encounter when they used the products. Each product was created with results in mind and does what they say they are going to do. The next task was naming this cute, creative, hip and forward thinking company that loved all things indulgent and yummy. The one word that encompassed all of these messages and then some was, without a doubt, was Cake. One year and countless hours of research and development later, the collection was complete and ready to be "served" to the world. Heather Reier continues to be Cake Beauty’s driving creative force and enjoys great success with her collection of decadent goodies. The Cake Beauty collection is sold in boutiques, lifestyle stores and department stores worldwide. It has become a cult-beauty brand and a favorite among celebrities. Cake Beauty is located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Jelly Belly When two young brothers emigrated from Germany to make their mark in America, they set the family on its candymaking course. In 1869, just two years after arriving in America, Gustav Goelitz bought an ice cream and candy store in Belleville, Ill., and his brother, Albert was sent out in a horse drawn wagon to sell their sweets to nearby communities. Today, the great-grandsons of Gustav Goelitz, the fourth generation, is still carrying on the tradition of making candy. The idea of "the original gourmet jelly bean" was born in Los Angeles, back in 1976, when a Los Angeles candy distributor had an idea for a jelly bean made with natural flavourings. So he called up the candymakers at Jelly Belly (formerly known as Herman Goelitz Candy Co.) who had a reputation for making the very best candies. The candymakers cooked up a recipe for a new kind of jelly bean -- intensely flavored throughout, with natural ingredients for flavouring whenever possible. In 1976 the first eight Jelly Belly flavours were born: Very Cherry, Lemon, Cream Soda, Tangerine, Green Apple, Root Beer, Grape and Liquorice. Funny enough they are still some of the most popular flavours made. A furor arose when people tasted Jelly Belly beans for the first time. Soon Jelly Belly became the favourite candy of Ronald Reagan, who eventually made the beans a staple in the Oval Office and on Air Force One after he was elected president. President Reagan's passion for jelly beans inspired Blueberry flavour, which was cooked up so he could serve red, white, and blue beans at his inaugural parties. Jelly Belly was also the first jelly bean in outer space. Free floating, weightless Jelly Belly beans were sent on the space shuttle Challenger in 1983 as a presidential surprise for the astronauts. Coincidentally it was the same mission that boasted another bit of history -- the first American female astronaut, Sally Ride. To the surprise and delight of Jelly Belly bean fans, the descendents of Gustav Goelitz continue to cook up some of the best loved candies in the world under the brand name Confections by Jelly Belly. Today the company still makes Candy Corn and more than 100 mouthwatering candies, including such delights as chocolates, gummies, sour candies and confections for all the major seasons. Jelly Belly Headquarters is located in Fairfield, California, U.S.A.

Life is Good Life is Good is a manufacturer of apparel and accessories with an optimistic and simplistic look on the world, brought to life by a smiling character Jake and his faithful dog Rocket. A true Cinderella story, brothers Bert and John Jacobs designed their first T-shirt in 1989. They knew nothing of the business and made money by hawking the shirts in the streets of Boston and selling door-to-door in dormitories. They lived off peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, slept in their van and showered when they could. By the Fall of 1994, heading home from a long, less-than-fruitful road trip, Bert and John were desperately searching for answers to keep the dream alive. Little did they know, the only answer they needed was back in Boston, hanging up on their apartment wall. A drawing of a cartoon guy with a huge smile, wearing black shades and a berret with "Life is Good" written in black below him, that the brother's called Jake. Jake's contagious grin, simple as it was, seemed to express everything the Jacobs brothers believed in. The brothers promptly printed up 48 Jake shirts for a local street fair in Cambridge, Massachusetts in September. They laid the shirts out on their rickety card table. By noontime, all 48 of those tees were gone. A star was born. Soon Jake was introduced to local retailers and his simple message of optimism was embraced like nothing the brothers had ever seen. As demand for product soared, Jake's team grew and the Little Brand That Could began to spread across America. Life is Good received many memorable and moving letters over the years from people who felt a special bond with the products and the simple, optimistic messages they carry. This has been especially true of people who face great adversity. Providing hope and relief in a time of adversity was the motivation for Life is Good's first significant fundraising effort following the tragedy of September 11, 2001. They held another fundraising festival in Portland, Maine in October, 2003. Thousands enjoyed the day and over $52,000 was raised for nearby Camp Sunshine, a retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. The Little Brand That Could took its festival train to four great cities in 2009: San Francisco, Boston, Toronto, and St. Charles, MO. They continued to step up the music with amazing shows from Brett Dennen, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Martin Sexton, Julian Marley, ALO and more. Thousands joined their fundraising Good Walks for Kids and thousands more played dozens of games sprawled across the green grass and contributed to Life is Good's colossal Art for All Murals. Life is Good started up their own foundation: The Life is Good Kids Foundation, that helps kids overcome life-threatening challenges such as violence, illness and extreme poverty and in 2010, raised over $600,000. The New England based brand stays close to its roots, with an emphasis on simplicity, humor and humility. Through Life is Good Festivals and positive products Jake's crew does its best to keep the good vibes flowing. Life is Good headquarters is located in Hudson, New Hampshire. .

Napoleon It all began in 1976 when a small steel fabrication business launched by Wolfgang Schroeter started manufacturing steel railings in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. At that time, no one could imagine the incredible future that lay ahead for Wolf Steel Ltd.and eventually Napoleon® Fireplaces and Napoleon® Gourmet Grills. Since the first wood stove rolled off the production line over 30 years ago, Wolf Steel's commitment was to be distinctive and successful in everything they do. The original stove featured a solid cast iron two-door design and was produced in a one thousand square foot manufacturing facility. By 1981, the name "Napoleon®" was born and with it, the first single glass door with Pyroceram high temperature ceramic glass—a first in the industry. This was the first of many milestones for Wolf Steel™ and over the next few years, the demand for Napoleon's wood stoves grew beyond Ontario's borders to the rest of Canada and into the United States. Time after time Napoleon® has led the way with new and innovative patented technology: eco-friendly Wood Burning products, realistic natural gas burning fireplaces and some of North America's most advanced state-of-the-art technology. Innovative engineering and design, advanced manufacturing techniques, dedicated customer service, outstanding product quality, and superior warranties distinguish Napoleon® from its competitors. Napoleon recently introduced sauces, marinades and spices to their already vast lineup of products and have had a great response to them. Napoleon's commitment to producing quality products combined with honest, reliable service has proven to be a successful framework to ensuring the continued rapid growth of the company. Pristine Gourmet produces high quality cold pressed oils, wine vinegars, sauces, marinades, cooking oils, fragrant soy candles and cookbooks. During the mid to late 90’s, Jason Persall, creator of Pristine Gourmet was realizing his love for business and his desire to add value to the farm operation, he and his wife Linda bought another farm and built a grain drying and storage facility. Searching for business ideas the two could embark upon, Jason read an article about cold pressed oils small companies in Europe were producing. This intrigued Jason to dig deeper into the idea of turning the soybeans his 1000+ acre farm was producing into an oil product for cooking. Taking the thought further, in 2000, after purchasing a small table top press, Jason started producing some cold pressed soybean oil for testing. After spending a few months with Linda cooking and using it they gave samples out to a few chosen testers (family had no choice). The response was so positive they spread it further to others (to avoid biased opinions) and received still more positive feedback. Knowing that going to the market place with this one oil would prove to be difficult, they sought another oil to accompany it. After much thought Jason would start testing canola oil, seeing as canola is one of the healthiest oils and is readily available in Ontario. This oil was well received too, which confirmed to Jason and Linda what decision had to be made. Deciding to move forward with this initiative, they formed Persall Fine Foods Co. Persall Fine Foods Co. now operates a modern, state of the art cold processing facility dedicated to quality assurance from field to table. For the past three years Persall Fine Foods has been providing top restaurants and chefs with these extra virgin, golden coloured oils. Pristine Gourmet has also won the Premier’s Award for Agri-Food Innovation, been selected by Toronto Life as one of the 100 Must-Try-Before-You-Die Tastes of Toronto, and appeared in several media outlets. In the fall of 2007 Persall Fine Foods launched its retail brand ‘Pristine Gourmet’. Pristine Gourmet allows you to take home this premium quality, award winning, extra virgin oil and see why so many top chefs rave about it. In 2008 and beyond, Pristine Gourmet will continue to introduce innovative gourmet products that meet our exceptionally high quality standards and that will always be 100% pure Canadian, from field to table. All products sold under Pristine Gourmet are 100% Canadian, processed, packaged and warehoused at their plant in Waterford, Ontario, Canada.
